First post, and something
of an introduction.
So, the title. This comes
from a Frank Turner song (if you don't know him, you should) called 'The Way I
Tend to Be' and the full lyric is:
"Love is about all the
changes you'd make and not just three small words".
Not particularly
groundbreaking, but it succinctly expresses how I feel about relationships.
It's the practical things, the mundane things that matter more than big
expressions of love or dramatic gestures.
That said, this isn't
intended to be a serious blog. The purpose of this blog is to collect the
ridiculous, shocking and sometimes just plain baffling interactions I (and
possibly others, if they care to contribute) have in the minefield that is
internet dating. I'm aware this probably isn't a novel idea, but my friends and
I have shared many laughs over our experiences and if it shows those who don't
feel like they can talk about these things so openly feel like they're not the
only ones, then that can't be a bad thing.
So. I'm 26. I work in the
city. I've been single for a while but I'm not online because I'm desperate. In
reality I'm very happy in life at the moment, and have a wide and close group
of friends. The downside of this is that we've all known each other for ten
years plus, so the opportunities to meet new people are somewhat limited -
we're not much for clubbing and pulling on a Saturday night. To that end, and
partly out of mere curiosity, I am, or have been, a member of OK Cupid, Match
and the horror that is the Badoo app. The latter is definitely more for
amusement than through any real intention to meet people.
